So i clicked "download video effects" in the video panel. the install shield popped up, i installed it, etc. In the effects, i clicked "get more" and it sent me to the effects package. I downloaded the package and tried to install it, but said i have to have webcammax 4 or higher. ooVoo installed 3.8. When i install the latest version from the webcammax site, i get this error:

ooVoo works with the version of WebcamMax that you download when in a video conversation. Direct downloads from WebcamMax may not be compatible.

Question is what what version of Vista 32bit or 64bit is he using ?

As for Webcammax situation if you have a earlier WCM version installed you have to "un-install the old version before commence installation"
with the new updated version release then reboot your system. Installing on top of a old version won't work because they're not compatible.
Minor update version number are okay. But you can't update from one version to another 3.x to 4.x for example.
