Need to clone video room to another page for just viewing

Okay, will throw this out to the group.  I just love how one can embed the video room into a web page, and have 6 folks all involved at one time.  But, when I was using for the RAAM race, we quickly filled the 6 slots up.  So, trying to get ready for the next race to use this technology with the MyAthletegps.com tracker, trying to think ahead.  What would be cool is the ability to clone the video room into another page where folks are just watching and listening.  This is the final step to having streaming video needs met.  So, I know from working with the oovoo folks, this is not something easy to do.  But, thought I would throw out to the group to see if anyone else thinks this would be a neat killer app for oovoo functionality.

Re: Need to clone video room to another page for just viewing - YES!

Yes, ooVoo needs to support a "sepctator" mode where you can let people simply observe the conversaiton. it would be nice to provide a "raise your hand and ask an (audio) question cabability as well....Oh yeah, support it via the web interface, not the client.

Hey Dave. I have been pushing for this feature myself for a while now. We need the ability to stream a live video chat to an embedded player on a website. I'm sure business, video podcasters, universities etc would all make use of this.

This is exactly what I am looking for as well. We are doing live "events" for an industrial client to communicate with their aprox 600 sales reps all over the world. These usually consist of a 640x480 Flash video of the presentation that is prerecorded & edited. After the 8-12 minute presentation (generally a new product release), we have had a live chat component, where viewers could type in questions about the product, sales techniques etc. We would love to have the folks answering on a camera in the studio as one chat box, and then have 4-5 users cued up with their questions to ask the experts. All this would be viewable by the larger audience (many do not have webcams). I am currently considering converting the OOVOO box to a video feed that I could just patch into a live flash encoder via a video mixer. I'm sure the quality will suffer, but it would work...

Until this feature is enabled, how you tried using ustream?  You could stream this out, and have folks send you questions.

I have participated in an ooVoo video call on Ustream, works well BUT, not everyone is like the USA and has large amounts of upstream and downstream. I for one am only able to connect at 1500/256k and Ustream needs 384k upstream to give a reasonable video plus the extra upstream that ooVoo is using totally kills my connection. My video quality on ooVoo is fine when in a normal video chat so having the ability to stream directly from ooVoo must appeal people on slower connections. The basics are already in place.

My current work around for this is.... I have a PC with a video card that includes an s-video output (computer #1). Basically this makes a television into monitor #2. I run an s-video cable from computer #1 running oovoo to a video switching board along with other camera views. When we want to cut to the video chat I punch it up on the switcher. Switcher output goes to computer #2 running Windows Media encoder or Flash Live encoder which is the feed to the larger audience. Not very elegant, but it works!

Great way to get around the issue, but, not something simple.  I used oovoo during the RAAM so having a single computer in the car

for 3000 miles was more than we needed, let alone any extra stuff.  I bet if someone paid to have the s/w written, there is no technology

limiter.  Guess it comes down to unless oovoo can see that this feature can make them more profit, they have others features higher on their list.
